The Fox Theatre's 2014 Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival will be honoring the film's 75th anniversary by showing the film Saturday, July 26th at 7:00 pm and Sunday, July 27th at 2:00 pm. The film will be introduced by Margarent Mitchell herself. In preparation of the film showings, Margaret Mitchell's Gone With the Wind Tour will run July 12th, 19th, and 26th.
Margaret Mitchell’s classic novel “Gone With the Wind” is the story of Scarlett O’Hara, the daughter of a rich plantation owner, and is set in Clayton County, Georgia, and Atlanta during the American Civil War and Reconstruction era. Along with many other “Gone With the Wind” attractions in Georgia, Atlanta is adding another to the list. Margaret Mitchell, portrayed by Sally Smith, shares the story of her life on a 3-hour coach tour through her Atlanta. She will tell many obscure stories about her life and how the novel that defined an era came to be. The tour includes: The Margaret Mitchell House, where “Gone With the Wind” was written, and also houses her typewriter, first drafts of the book, and her Pulitzer Prize. The vouchers for this tour will also allow entry to the Road to Tara Museum in Jonesboro, the Marietta Gone With The Wind Museum, and re-entry to The Margaret Mitchell House at no extra charge.
